Fireside Festival is a Canadian company. This page explains what we collect when you buy tickets or join our list, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how to reach us about it.

What we collect

  • When you buy tickets, your name, email, the tickets you bought, what you paid, any promo code, and the billing country and postal code needed to work out GST.
  • Your card details go straight to Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
  • If friends buy through your crew link, we record which orders came through it so we can pay your reward.
  • When you join our list, your email.
  • Our web host keeps standard server logs, like IP address and browser type, to keep the site secure.

We set 1 cookie on the ticket pages. It remembers which friend's crew link sent you, for 30 days. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we use it

  • To sell you tickets, send them to you and let you in at the door.
  • To pay crew rewards and handle refunds.
  • To answer you when you write to us.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.
  • To meet Canadian tax and accounting rules.

Buying a ticket does not sign you up for our newsletter. We only send festival news if you joined our list, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We share it only with the services that run the festival for us, and only what each one needs.

  • Stripe, for payments, fraud checks and GST.
  • Vercel, which hosts this website.
  • Neon, which stores our ticket database.
  • Brevo, which sends your ticket email and our newsletter.
  • Google Fonts, which loads the fonts on this site and sees your IP address when it does.

Some of these services store information outside Canada, mainly in the United States, where it can be accessed under the laws of that country. We will also share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Canadian tax law requires us to keep order records, including your name and email, for 6 years after the end of the tax year. After that we delete them. Server logs are kept for a short time only. Your list email stays until you unsubscribe.

How we protect it

Payments happen on Stripe's secure checkout. Every page is sent over an encrypted connection, our database is encrypted, and only the people who run the festival can access it. Each ticket page has its own private link, so no one can look up your order without it.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete anything we are not required to keep by law, and stop our emails at any time. Write to info@firesidefestival.ca and we will reply within 30 days.

If you are not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Changes

If we change this page, we will update the date at the top.
